Gloomies, the web comic!

Hey Everyone!

Here’s a blog post! What’s the occasion, you ask? (Since I blog so rarely.) Well, two of my friends are getting married in Jamaica and Ryan and I are going down for a week to be part of it and also to lay around on the beach. So, no comics for a week I’m afraid. But I’m sure I’ll come up with some swim-up bar/all inclusive resort themed gloomies for next week.

Also, Christmas is coming up fast, despite my retreat to a warmer climate and my general resistance to the passage of time. But my procrastination is no reason YOU shouldn’t get a head start on your Christmas shopping. Gloomies books make great gifts this year for your friends and family members who like sarcasm and all things random! Order soon to avoid the Christmas post office rush. You might want time to wrap it. Or to create an elaborate treasure hunt with clues ultimately leading to the gift. Whatever you do for the holidays.

I'm going to Jamaica!

Wow guys, I have books. I finally and officially have books to sell. Gloomie books! They are sitting right here behind me in my apartment. A whole whack of ’em. They will be for sale at the Toronto FanExpo this year, and then the remainder will go on sale online in September.

That’s my big news. How are you? Looking forward to the FanExpo? Me too! Better get some last minute things in order!

Hey people!

How’s it going? I just decided to make Twitter part of my Gloomies life! This blog thingy is great for major announcements, but I’ve had a hard time writing a mini essay about what I’m up to every few days (or months even.) Mostly I feel like my gloomies cover what I’m thinking about in a vague, universal way.
But now you can get even more random thoughts from me on Twitter. Maybe extra content, you know, sketches and stuff… we’ll see. I got a friend who’s been using twitter for a while who’s gonna coach me. Thanks, Jayme! So, I hope you’ll follow me. I’ll tweet when I’ve updated the comic, of course. If you don’t have the RSS feed thing going already (or even if you do) this’ll be a good way to know when I have a new comic ready.

In other news, I’ve formatted all the prints for this year’s Toronto Fanexpo. And I’m pretty sure I know a place down the road where we can get the prints made up. Also, the book is totally formatted, I just need to adjust/perfect the front and back covers. Unfortunately, the printer we had lined up is ‘out of town’ right now, (which sounds suspicious to me.) We are looking around at other printers. If you think you know of a good, fast book printer please email me, otherwise, I have more research to do.

I’m back from LA! I had a great time, I learned a bunch in class (I got material for some of the more recent comics, by the way) and I saw a lot of the city. California is beautiful. Now I’m off to New Zealand and Australia for the next twenty days. I’ve made some extra gloomies so there will be a new one for each Monday I’m away. That’s the next three Mondays. Then I should have some fresh comic ideas for June. I’ll see you guys then!

Hello!

Wow, April already. I’ve been writing those monthly newsletters regularly, so, if you’ve signed up for those you know a little about what I’ve been up to. I figure I should send out a wider message, blog-style, just to let everyone know I’m traveling to LA for the next week and a bit. I’ll be home on the 23rd so that’s when you should expect to see the next gloomie.

Also, I quit my job recently! I’m taking a sabbatical, so Friday was my last day. I’m going to travel and work on some personal projects, Gloomies being a big one of them. I should have a book ready for this year’s FanExpo and for sale in the online store.
I better get some sleep now, I leave for the airport tomorrow morning!
